Bio (Long)
The Interstate Kings began over a decade ago in a basement in rural Maine. Brothers David Young (guitar) and Deven Young (drums) connected over their shared love of American music and road trips, and began writing songs together in high school. Music became such a big part of the brothers’ lives that David sold his bed and spent 4 years sleeping on a bean bag to make room for a drum kit in his bedroom/rehearsal room. Following their formative years performing around New England, the Interstate Kings decided to keep building their show and relocated to Nashville, TN in 2019. Since moving to Music City, The Interstate Kings have found success in a number of avenues. The Young brothers have written/recorded/released two full-length albums together: David’s solo album Can-Am (2022), and The Interstate Kings’ most recent album Vintage American (2025), featuring third founding member Seth Martin on bass guitar. Vintage American was written and recorded during a ten-day residency at Hidden Creek Music in Nashville, and has done well as an independent release, garnering over 60,000 Spotify streams across its first three singles. In 2024 the Kings recorded and released their first Christmas song, a re-imagining of "Christmas Must Be Tonight", the classic holiday song originally written by The Band in 1977. The Young brothers are active in the Nashville music scene, where David performs a number of acoustic residencies including The Moxy Downtown and The Nashville Palace, and Deven contracts as a studio drummer. Living up to their name, The Interstate Kings have performed in over 15 states and counting. In addition to the Interstate Kings, David has brought his unique guitar picking and vocal sound to a number of other groups, including with renowned group Savannah Jack, headlining on over 20 cruise ships. On their Road Trip Across America, David Young & The Interstate Kings are bringing the great stories and songs of America to stages across the USA and beyond. From Northern New England to South Florida, Nashville to California, their dynamic live show continues to captivate audiences, weaving together beloved Americana classics and their own catalogue of originals.
