Bio (Long)
When brothers David Young (guitar) and Deven Young (drums) began playing music together over a decade ago, it was a way to pass the long and gloomy Maine winters. But time passed, and music became an instrumental part of the brothers’ lives. They spent their formative years paying dues in the country bars around Northern New England (back when they couldn't legally drink, don't tell mom). The Interstate Kings decided to pursue music more seriously, and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2019. Since moving to Music City, The Interstate Kings have found success in a number of avenues. The Young brothers have recorded and released two full-length albums together: David’s solo album Can-Am (2022), and The Interstate Kings’ most recent album Vintage American (2025), featuring third founding member Seth Martin on bass guitar. Vintage American was written and recorded during a single ten-day residency at Hidden Creek Music in Nashville, and has done well as an independent release, garnering over 60,000 Spotify streams across its first three singles. In 2024 the Kings announced their first Christmas song, a re-imagining of "Christmas Must Be Tonight", the classic holiday song originally written by The Band in 1977. In addition to a growing tour schedule, the Young brothers are active in the Nashville music scene, where David performs a number of acoustic residencies including The Moxy Downtown and The Nashville Palace, and Deven contracts as a studio drummer. Living up to their name, The Interstate Kings have performed in over 15 states and counting. Outside of The Interstate Kings, David has lent his guitar picking and vocals to a number of other bands, including two years with renowned performing group Savannah Jack, headlining more than 20 cruise ships during his time with the band. On their Road Trip Across America, David Young & The Interstate Kings are bringing the stories and songs of America to stages across the nation. From Maine to South Florida, Nashville to California, their dynamic live show continues to captivate audiences, weaving together beloved Americana classics and their own catalogue of originals.
